Originally from Ukraine, the artist created the series Different as a tribute to those who feel set apart from others. The works speak to the experience of being perceived as unusual or out of place—of being told, “You must be from another planet,” “You were born in the wrong time,” or “You’re an alien.”
Reactions to the series have varied widely. Some viewers have described the paintings as strange or unsettling, while others have found in them endearing, whimsical creatures—funny little aliens that bring a smile to the face.
