JOE DE HAAN

Joe De Haan was born in New York City in 1968 and has spent over five decades living on a large island off the northeast coast of the United States. His life by the sea has deeply influenced his artistic practice, immersing him in the beauty, power, and mystery of the ocean—a constant source of inspiration and materials for his abstract and figural assemblage work.

De Haan’s sea creatures are infused with personality, vitality, and humor, reflecting his aim to animate the marine world with imaginative character.
